As the Seasons Change
Apr 28, 2020

I am asked regularly 'which is your favourite season for landscape photography'.

All of the seasons have their merits and bring about different opportunities, but rather than favour one season above the others, what I enjoy most is that time when one season turns to another.  Right now as spring turns to summer my thoughts are of the bluebells emerging by Roseberry Topping in North Yorkshire.  The blossom and new growth on our native trees that glows in the morning light.  At the moment with travel on hold we must live on our memories from previous years.  I am fortunate that I can revisit some of those places in the archive of photographs on my hard drive.
Our planned trip to Northumberland is obviously on hold for the foreseeable future but as a culinary reminder of our times up there, today I have raided my stock of Craster kippers for that taste of the sea. It brought back so many fond memories of the wonderful Northumberland coast that we love so much.
During this time when our movements are restricted, the seasons will come and go...but they will come again and we can look forward to the time when we can once again enjoy the splendour of our landscape.
